The United States will immediately provide sources of raw materials which are needed to ramp up the production of Covishield COVID-19 vaccine, of which India is facing an acute shortage amid daily new infections of more than three lakh and an active caseload of around 27 lakh.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke to Ajit Doval on Sunday to confirm this. He added that the US had identified supplies of therapeutics, rapid diagnostic test kits, ventilators and PPE suits that will also be sent to India. The US is also looking at options to provide oxygen and related supplies urgently in order to help India overcome a deficit that has put lives of thousands of both COVID-positive patients and those battling other diseases at risk… (NDTV (with inputs from AFP), April 26, 2021)
